While most of these recipes are desserts (who doesn’t love a good paleo dessert?), you can use coconut flour in almost all types of recipes! Coconut flour is a softer flour, made from the pulp of a coconut. Whether you’re using it as breading or a thickening agent, coconut flour is a staple in our paleo pantry.
Tips for using coconut flour
- Coconut flour is super absorbent so most coconut flour recipes will call for a lot more liquid, eggs and/or oil than traditional recipes. For dairy-free recipes, coconut milk and coconut oil are often used.
- You will use much less coconut flour that you expect in recipes. Most recipes will use less than a cup of coconut flour for the full recipe.
- For these reasons, don’t try to substitute coconut flour for any other flour in a recipe. Look for recipes that are specifically developed to use coconut flour.
