MigraKet is a medical food designed to support individuals who experience migraines, including but not limited to those who follow a ketogenic diet. The Swiss-based product is formulated to help manage and reduce the frequency and severity of migraines by leveraging the benefits of ketones and other nutrients that play a role in neurological health.

About the Company and Its Founder

Dr. Elena Gross, a neuroscientist and former chronic migraine sufferer, developed MigraKet, inspired by her personal experience and scientific knowledge. Through her brand, Brain Ritual, she focuses on creating effective, well-tolerated migraine treatments designed to optimize brain energy metabolism.

How MigraKet Works

MigraKet provides the brain with a steady energy source through bioidentical beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB), the primary ketone in the blood. This helps maintain energy levels, especially when ketone production is low, reducing the likelihood of migraines triggered by energy dips. Additionally, MigraKet supplies nutrients that support neurological health. It comes in powder form, packaged in individual sachets, and is mixed with water to be consumed twice daily: morning and late afternoon.

Ingredients in MigraKet

In addition to D-beta-hydroxybutyrate––the form of BHB that’s identical to what your body produces––MigraKet contains more than 30 bioactive nutrients chosen for their potential to support neurological function and reduce migraine symptoms, including magnesium and other essential minerals and trace minerals, B vitamins, vitamin C, all the fat-soluble vitamins, Coenzyme Q10, and electrolytes.

MigraKet contains less than 1 gram of net carbs per serving and is sweetened with stevia, so it is keto-friendly. According to Elena, although you don’t need to eat a ketogenic diet to benefit from MigraKet, it’s best to eat a low-carb or low-glycemic diet.

My Experience with MigraKet

I fortunately do not suffer from migraines. However, as a registered dietitian who follows a ketogenic lifestyle, I wanted to try MigraKet and share my experience with the product.

Taste and texture: The texture was smooth, and the orange-flavored beverage was not overly sweet. I think it’s important to stir well after adding the packet of MigraKet to the water.

Ketones and glucose: My blood ketone level doubled within 30 minutes of consuming MigraKet and then gradually returned to near baseline by 90 minutes. My blood glucose levels stayed very stable throughout.

  • Start:
      • Ketones: 0.9 mmol/L
      • Glucose: 84 mg/dL
  • 30 minutes:
      • Ketones: 1.8
      • Glucose: 88 mg//dL
  • 60 minutes:
      • Ketones: 1.4 mmol/L
      • Glucose: 85 mmol/L
  • 90 minutes:
      • Ketones: 1.0 mmol/L
      • Glucose: 86 mg/dL
  • 120 minutes:
      • Ketones: 1.0 mmol/L
      • Glucose: 85 mg/dL

Effects: Since I fortunately never get migraines, I can’t personally attest to MigraKet’s main intended benefit. However, I felt good and didn’t have any negative side effects after taking it. Testimonials from several people who experienced improvements in their migraines can be found on the MigraKet website.

If you suffer from migraines or know someone who does, MigraKet might help relieve symptoms while supporting both brain and overall health.
