Daily30+ is a wholefood, plant-based supplement designed by ZOE’s scientists. It contains more than 30 plants and 5 grams of fibre per serving, helping you make any meal smarter.
This deliciously science-y product complements a wide range of dishes. Simply adding 1 scoop a day to your diet will boost your fibre and plant intake.
As a science-first company, we had to ask: what impact does Daily30+ have? So, we ran a randomised controlled trial (RCT) – the gold standard of scientific research.
In this article, we’ll explain what our researchers did and what they found.
The Daily30+ RCT
The Daily30+ RCT ran for 6 weeks and involved 349 healthy people in the United Kingdom.
Each day, participants consumed either 15 g of Daily30+ or 14 g of a control twice a day, alongside their regular diet.
Before the trial and at the 6-week mark, we took stool samples and measures of metabolic health.
We also asked the participants to complete questionnaires about digestive symptoms, energy levels and hunger.
What did we find?
Although our main focus was to investigate whether Daily30+ could improve gut microbiome composition, we found some other surprising benefits along the way.
For instance, 55% of those taking Daily30+ each day reported a reduction in indigestion, and 35% reported improvements in constipation.
‘It keeps me “regular” in a healthy kind of way.’
Looking at digestive symptoms overall, 70% of participants in the Daily30+ group reported improvements. This is likely due to Daily30+’s fibre content.
Beyond gut symptoms, 51% of participants using Daily30+ reported an increase in energy*, and 45% reported an increase in happiness.
Product tester Jane B. told us that she no longer has an ‘afternoon slump’ and Deandre M. doesn’t experience ‘afternoon fatigue’ anymore.
Increasing fullness and satisfaction
In another part of the study, we gave participants an identical test meal either with or without Daily30+, and asked them some questions about the meal a couple of hours later. Compared with the test meal alone, when they added the wholefood supplement, participants reported greater:
They also reported reduced:
-
hunger (-16.9%)
-
desire to eat (-70.9%)
These are all great results that point to how Daily30+ made meals more satisfying and kept participants feeling energised and fuller for longer.
Daily30+ and the gut microbiome
We hoped that simply adding Daily30+ to our participants’ diets would improve their gut microbiome composition. And we’re happy to report that it did.
People added an average of 5 points to their ZOE gut microbiome score in just 6 weeks.
Compared with people in the control group, those in the Daily30+ group had increased numbers of ‘good’ gut bacteria and decreased numbers of ‘bad’ bacteria.
ZOE’s research shows that these species are associated with either positive or negative measures of health.
It’s an impressive result – by simply adding a scoop of ZOE science to their plates, the participants significantly shifted their gut microbiomes to a more favourable state.
What does it all mean?
After 6 weeks, the participants in our study saw an improved gut microbiome, reduced digestive symptoms and increased energy and mood. Plus they felt fuller throughout the day.
We should also note that our recent RCT on METHOD, which tested ZOE membership and eating the ZOE way, produced even greater benefits.
So, it’s most important to focus on your whole dietary pattern – Daily30+ is the icing on the cake.
In the Daily30+ study, participants were happy to use the product each day, and they found it simple to stick to. It shows that Daily30+ easily slots into busy lives.
For instance, Joanne F. told us:
‘Daily30+ is really easy to use and goes with pretty much everything. A really convenient way to increase my plant intake, particularly plants I wouldn’t usually eat!’
For something to become your next healthy habit, it has to be simple and enjoyable, which Daily30+ clearly is.
